about

Well, ‘could’ is definitely one of my favourites on
the record. I remember being in bed on one of the
hottest Saturday mornings that I’ve ever seen in my
life. I was just shaking a bottle of water while laying
down, thinking about my creative processes and how it
has changed over the last few years. I used to be way
less conservative and much more energetic while making
music. So I challenged myself to write an instrumental
track really fast so I could go to the beach. I used
the bottled water as a hi hat (sort of) and sampled
some old debussy cassette that I had. When I got the
movements right, I kept recording random stuff that I
had laying around my old bedroom. After recording
everything, I kept it aside for a few months.
While going through some old files on my laptop I
stumbled across what would become ‘could’. I thought it
was a really fun song to work on, maybe because I wrote
it during summer and found out about it again during
winter.
The first part is just a reflection about the fact that
some people never seem to change, especially their bad
personality traits. Instead, they just keep lying to
themselves and moving on with their lives, burning
everything around them. I thought that something like
“why do we do things” could be as silly as that
behaviour. That actually fascinates me and also feels
like a bummer. The second part kinda resonates the same
message that we find on the last track on the record.
Keep your friends around and you’ll always be fine.

lyrics

Frivolous letters, been writing forever
In time they'll pile up on a corner
Everyone seems so pretentious, confusedly dancing
Until they die on a monday

I cannot see
How can I see
Why can't i see
Why can't i see

Always a sweater in tropical weather
Do we still listen to merriweather?
Moving the furniture, keeping the costumes
Could this room be any be any smaller?

I cannot see
How can I see
Why can't i see
Why can't i see

Why do we do things

It's quite good to get old and
To have a friend with me
Tt doesn't matter where I am
I'm always on the right track

It's quite good to get old and
To have a friend with me
Tt doesn't matter where I am
I'm always on the right track
